Taylor Swift appeared cheerful on her night out before the Super Bowl, accompanying Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, despite recent criticism for their positive remarks about Donald Trump.

Just under two days prior to the NFL’s championship game, Kelce and Mahomes relaxed in New Orleans after going on a double date with their partners.

The foursome, which also included Patrick’s spouse Brittany, were spotted entering and exiting the popular French eatery Lilette on Magazine Street, where a sizable crowd of admirers had gathered to see them.

A beaming Swift, wearing a black dress and matching Eleonor boots courtesy of shoe designers Larroude, looked in fine spirits as she made her way out of the venue with Kelce, despite her die-hard legion of fans being left outraged by his glowing remarks about Trump this week.

The president, who controversially said he ‘hates’ Taylor in September amid her support for his election rival Kamala Harris, will be at the Superdome when Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LIX.

And when asked for his thoughts on Trump attending Sunday’s game, Kelce gushed to reporters that it will be an ‘honor’ to play in front of him despite his bad blood with Swift.

‘That’s awesome. It’s a great honor,’ the Chiefs tight end, who has been labeled ‘unfocused’ after his date night on the eve of the Super Bowl, responded to reporters after being told Trump will be there for the big game.

‘I think you know, no matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there — it’s the best country in the world — and that’s pretty cool.’ 

Mahomes, too, admitted he was excited by the prospect of playing in front of the first ever sitting president at a Super Bowl this weekend.

‘It’s always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president, someone that is in the top position in our country,’ the quarterback said. ‘I didn’t see that clip but it’s cool to hear that he’s seen me play football and respects the game that I play.’

Travis and Patrick’s positive words about the 78-year-old angered Swifties on social media given his long-running feud with Taylor, who infamously accused him of promoting ‘white supremacy’ and ‘racism’ during his previous reign as president.

‘After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence?’ the songstress wrote on Twitter (X) at the time.

As well as Travis and Patrick, the latter’s wife Brittany also controversially endorsed Trump in the lead-up to his election win back in November.

The Chiefs WAG made headlines after she appeared to like a post on Instagram detailing a number of his proposed policies, which many felt could have jeopardized her friendship with Swift given her disdain for the Republican.

Trump reacted to Mahomes’ apparent endorsement by taking aim at Swift, saying: ‘I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better [than Swift] if you want to know the truth.’

He added that he was ‘not a Taylor Swift fan’ and that her support for Harris was ‘just a question of time.’

‘She couldn’t, you couldn’t, possibly endorse Biden,’ Trump continued about Swift before branding her ‘a very liberal person.’

They enjoyed a night out in New Orleans 48 hours before Travis plays in the Super Bowl

However, Taylor and Brittany quickly rubbished any talk of a rift between them when they were seen on vacation at the singer’s $17m Rhode Island holiday home with their men shortly after.

They have also been spotted together at various Chiefs games since, while Brittany and Patrick were at Taylor’s Eras Tour-themed birthday party back in December.

Swift and Mahomes celebrated on the field together after Kansas City’s AFC Championship win last month, which booked their place in a third straight Super Bowl.

The Chiefs will become the first team in NFL history to win it three years in a row if they get past the Eagles on Sunday.
