In a twist of fate, Taylor Swift narrowly avoided crossing paths with her former boyfriend, John Mayer, during a star-studded Paul McCartney concert in Los Angeles last Saturday night.

The 36-year-old “Lover” singer and the 48-year-old “Gravity” musician were both spotted mingling with other guests at the Fonda Theater in Hollywood, according to photographs released by TMZ.

During the evening, Swift was seen having a brief conversation with fellow artist Olivia Rodrigo before choosing a different exit route than Mayer, thereby sidestepping any potential encounter.

While it remains uncertain if the former couple actually saw each other inside the venue, both seemed to be in high spirits amidst the glittering atmosphere of the event.

The relationship between Swift and Mayer dates back to 2009, when Mayer had publicly shown an interest in working with the “Cruel Summer” star, sparking a brief romance.

That same year, they released “Half of My Heart,” which was featured on his album “Battle Studies.”

Then, in January 2010, the duo was seen dining together with friends in Nashville, and Mayer later honored Swift at the Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony in June 2010.

The Grammy winner dropped her hit track “Dear John” on her “Speak Now” album in October 2010, which is rumored to be about Mayer.

“Don’t you think 19 is too young to be played by your dark twisted games. When I loved you so?” she sings.

Mayer addressed rumors that the track was about him in a 2012 interview with Rolling Stone, saying, “I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do.”

“I never got an email. I never got a phone call,” he said. “I was really caught off-guard, and it really humiliated me at a time when I’d already been dressed down. I mean, how would you feel if, at the lowest you’ve ever been, someone kicked you even lower?”

The “New Light” singer referred to the song as “cheap songwriting” and accused Swift of “abusing” her talent.

Swift clapped back, calling Mayer “presumptuous” while addressing the comments in an interview with Glamour that same year.

“I never disclose who my songs are about,” she added.

The “Love Story” singer’s now engaged to her fiancé, Travis Kelce, while Mayer was last rumored to be dating influencer Kat Stickler last October.
