Taylor Swift dazzled audiences with her stunning appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert this Wednesday.

The 35-year-old singer, known for hits like “Ophelia,” turned heads in a velvet burgundy mini dress by David Koma, priced at $1,695. The dress featured a bardot neckline and distinctive structured off-the-shoulder sleeves that resembled wings.

Swift, who opted for a more casual style earlier in the evening, completed her glamorous ensemble with a glittering necklace and deep red pointed-toe heels that matched her outfit perfectly.

Her signature blonde locks were elegantly styled into an updo, while her makeup featured a bold dark red lip and classic cat-eye eyeliner to enhance her features.

The pop star is currently in the spotlight promoting her upcoming docuseries, The End of an Era, and The Eras Tour Final Show, both set to premiere on Disney+ on December 12.

During her appearance, the singer covered a wide range of topics, including her Eras Tour, her bond with Stevie Nicks, her penchant for bread, her post-show routine, and her favorite type of audiobooks.

Speaking of her Eras tour, she revealed that not even illness would prevent her from going on stage.

‘I make a decision at the beginning of the tour that there is no option to not to go on stage. That’s not an option. Even if you have the stomach flu, which I had multiple times during the tour, my goal was to never let them know you have the stomach flu.’

‘I think it’s also about knowing that there is something bigger than you. And for me, on that tour, the bigger thing was these people have saved up their money, they have rearranged their schedules, they have arranged transportation, they’ve had parties, they have created costumes, they’ve made friendship bracelets. I’m doing the show!’

Colbert also inquired how Swift winds down at the end of the night.

She replied: ‘After the show, you know that kind of feeling where you are just sort of like a flickering light bulb, like that just happens. It’s crazy that these people are being so nice and wonderful and that’s hard to go to sleep after.’

‘So I will go back to the hotel, you know, get out of the costume. Into the bath immediately, into the bath, mermaid time. And then I get the most amount of room service possible.’

The host asked if she orders french fries, to which she replied, ‘Yes, everything, everything I want on that given night.’

‘I’m just like I need to power up for the three and a half hour show. It’s the best.’

She said that afterwards she signs ‘like two thousand CD’s.’

The host also inquired about the biggest difference between Swift’s private life ‘just walking around’ and her public stage persona.

The singer joked of her domestic appearance: ‘I’ve got like an old Victorian nightgown on. I prefer to look like, if you see me in the window I’d like for someone to think they saw a ghost.’

‘I think a home, I don’t want any paraphernalia. I don’t want any plaques or a studio. I don’t want there to be any evidence that a music person lives here, except for like my piano and guitar, but the guitar is not hung in a prominent place.’

‘I like it to feel very cozy at home and if I’m going to the studio I will go to the studio,’ she added.

She also praised her close friends and family, stating that she can ‘tell them anything’ and it ‘never ends up in the press.’

At one point Colbert brought up a news headline that read, ‘Seattle Swifties match 2.3 magnitude earthquake at Taylor Swift Eras tour’ and asked if she feels that energy onstage when performing.

‘Yes, it’s insane. The entire tour, there were just these out of control, out of body experiences we’d have on stage,’ Swift said.

‘And I’ve have the same band, most of my band has been with me since I was 16 years old. And we’d just kind of look at each other and go “this isn’t normal.”‘

‘And so it was really the most phenomenal feeling every single night being on the tour. I’m really glad we get to relive it because we have this concert film and docuseries coming out on the 12th about the Eras tour.’

Colbert then shared that he saw the first two episodes of her documentary, and that they made him tear up.

He asked her if she knew from the start that the Eras tour would end up being so special.

‘It took a second. I think what I thought in the beginning was, we were seeing all this insane demand for the tour, but I chalked it up to, I’ve put out five albums. I haven’t gotten to tour any of them and there’s just built up demand.’

When asked about her post-show routine, Swift explained that she has a 'mermaid time' bath before ordering the maximum amount of room service at her hotel

‘We are really lucky to have this passionate response from the fans. I didn’t realize it was going to be this, until you start hearing about people’s experiences at the show.’

‘Because my whole life I’ve been trying to study like how do you not just entertain people, but really transport them out of their problems, their life, their stresses? How do you really create a sense of escape?’

‘And when I was reading articles where medical professionals are diagnosing several, you know, all these fans who came to the Eras tour, with like post concert amnesia? They were getting like joy black outs, and I like, “oh man, I think this one is different, I think the tour is different.”‘

‘It was ultimately because of the fans connecting with what we created that made the Eras tour what it is.’

Colbert also asked Swift for advice as he’s gearing up for retirement, inquiring what she does in her downtime after wrapping up her tour.

Swift referred to her and Colbert as ‘passionate, hyperactive people.’

‘I think when I take time off, it’s always just like, I can’t slow down the fact that I need to get up and do a lot of things today. But I can change what those things are, like I can figure out how to chill out, but I’m never going to be a chill person.’

‘So what you can do, is like I became like I’m bread girl now. Or I’m like, “oh, this isn’t going to cross stitch itself”, know what I mean?’

‘Hobbies are kind of incredible and you love to do a million things to prepare for this and you give everything to the people that watch your show. You can give that to your friends and family, your community.’

Swift also revealed that she listens to audiobooks ‘constantly’ and shared the type of elements she enjoys in a book.

‘If you’ve got like an old like rambling, shambles old British mansion covered in moss or ivy, and there’s like a mysterious relationship and he may not be what he seems and there is like a murder that has happened in the past but you hear whispers of it. There’s the idea of a ghost or an actual ghost,’ she described.

‘If you present me with a plot line where there’s like a family compound on an island off the coast of Maine, there’s secrets in this family,’ the star went on.

‘If there’s a marriage and the marriage isn’t what it seems and it seems like this dude is clearly like, why are you with him? He’s horrible with you. Plot twist, unreliable narrator, she is the psycho.’

‘If you got any of that, I’m going to need to read that. And when I say read that, I mean I need somebody you to read that to me,’ she added.

She also spoke about the people she turns to for advice in the business.

‘I try to find through lines in many people’s experiences, like I think we can relate to each other even if our lives aren’t identical, but that said I’ve been very lucky. I have Stevie Nicks in my life in a way that like affects me positively constantly.’

‘Being able to talk with her and have a phone call with her, and hear what she’s been through. She paved the way for me and any other artist to get to do this on this level.’

‘I feel very lucky that she’s like lended her very magical, wonderful wise approach to life to me.’

She also said she relies on her collaborator Max Martin as well as her fiancé Travis Kelce, 36, for advice.

Colbert also shared a past clip from the show where he gushed about meeting Swift for the first time and how kindly she treated his daughter.

‘I’ll love Taylor Swift till the day I die, and I’ll follow her into battle,’ the talk show host shared.

‘I would jump off a cliff into a pit of spikes for that woman, for how nice she was to my daughter. And you got to remember that.’

Both The End of an Era docuseries and The Eras Tour Final Show will begin streaming December 12 on Disney+.

The teaser trailer features behind-the-scenes moments as Swift talks about the massive creative feat behind the historic shows.

‘People like to talk about phenomenons… as if it just happened,’ she says in the preview. ‘We have broken every single record you can break with this tour. The only thing left is to close the book.’

Alongside the music and spectacle, Swift is also lifting the curtain on her personal life – including the early days of her romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end and fiancé Travis.

Kelce will be prominently featured throughout the docuseries, appearing in rehearsal footage, personal phone call snippets and scenes from his surprise on-stage cameo during Swift’s London dates in June 2024.

The Eras Tour, which ran from March 17, 2023 in Glendale, Arizona through December 8, 2024 in Vancouver, Canada, set unprecedented records.

The overwhelming demand famously crashed Ticketmaster in late 2022 and pushed Swift into billionaire status, primarily through music earnings.

The tour spanned ten eras across her career with a three-hour, 40-song setlist that attracted A-listers, royals and millions of fans worldwide.

Over four million audience members attended in person, making it the highest-grossing tour ever recorded.
