Taylor Swift announced she will be releasing a surprise movie in theaters to celebrate her upcoming new album, The Life of a Showgirl. 

The superstar, 35, is planning a theatrical event to coincide with the October 3 launch of her 12th studio album.

‘I officially invite you to an *extraordinary* event, The Official Release Party of a Showgirl: from Oct 3 to Oct 5, exclusively in cinemas!’ she announced via an Instagram post on Friday.

‘You’ll have the chance to witness the world premiere of the music video for my latest single “The Fate of Ophelia”. This will be accompanied by never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage showing the making of the video, with detailed explanations of the artistic inspirations for this music, and the brand new lyric videos from my upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl.’

‘Looks like it’s a perfect occasion to dust off your Eras Tour attire or don that orange cardigan… Tickets are available now. While dancing is optional, it is highly encouraged,’ the star mentioned.

She wrapped up the post writing: ‘Showtimes may vary, so check your local listings. Tickets are limited and available at releasepartyofashowgirl.com.’

The singer also released a stunning new photo, featuring her in burlesque-inspired red showgirl costume. 

The outfit saw her in a sequined top, a feathered boa around her arms, and an elaborate headdress with red feathers and a jeweled crown. 

Her makeup was dramatic, and featured bold eyeliner and red lipstick. 

‘Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl’ film is reported to be 89 minutes long, as per Variety.

It will be shown in cinemas from Friday to Sunday during the album’s release weekend. 

The event’s highlight is likely to be premiere of the new music video for the song ‘The Fate of Ophelia.’ 

The film will be shown at all 540 AMC Theatres locations, continuing Swift’s deal with the chain. 

It will also be available at thousands of other theaters across North America, including Cinemark and Regal. 

Tickets go on sale today at 12:12 p.m. ET.

The showings will be a different experience in one key respect.

‘While normally prohibited during traditional showtimes, AMC guests are welcome to sing and dance during Taylor Swift | The Official Release Party of a Showgirl,’ a release from AMC stated.

However, the announcement added, ‘To help ensure everyone’s enjoyment of the show, guests may not stand on seats or block any aisles or stairs.’

The release party will be available in several other countries alongside its U.S. release.

This includes Canada, Mexico, the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Tickets for these international showtimes will go on sale next Tuesday.

Some countries not included on the list will get the film on a later weekend in October, with an official announcement expected around October 3. 

The film will face competition from Dwayne Johnson’s movie ‘The Smashing Machine’ and a re-release of ‘Avatar: The Way of Water.’

Swift is no stranger to breaking records on the big screen. 

Her concert film, The Eras Tour, became the highest-grossing concert film of all time in 2023, earning a staggering $180 million domestically and $261 million globally.
