Cyrina Hogan, 58, was arrested and charged with one count of child abuse without great bodily harm, a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrest report states.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A teacher was arrested Wednesday from Baymeadows Christian Academy & Preschool, the school confirmed to First Coast News Monday.
Cyrina Hogan, 58, was arrested and charged with one count of child abuse without great bodily harm, a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrest report states.
“Once an investigation was started, that teacher was removed from the classroom and terminated from employment,” a spokesperson for the school told First Coast News.
Hogan’s arrest report is heavily redacted, but it does indicate that a victim had sustained injuries and Hogan was identified as the “suspect” in the case.
The school official said JSO and the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) are actively investigating Hogan’s arrest.
Parents were notified the night before Hogan was arrested when DCF began speaking to children in the classroom.
A formal letter was sent home with students Thursday to notify parents that she would not be returning to the classroom, the official said.
School officials said Hogan was employed for less than two months.
