An 18-year-old man is facing serious charges after allegedly opening fire on a group of people at an Orange Park apartment complex early Sunday morning. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has charged Dimond Crawford with four counts of attempted murder following the incident.
The unsettling events unfolded around 1 a.m. at the Victoria at Orange Park Apartments located on Wells Road. Authorities responded to the scene after receiving reports of gunfire in the vicinity.
According to the sheriff’s office, Crawford reportedly began shooting “recklessly” at a group of four individuals who were standing outside an apartment building. As the group attempted to flee, the suspect allegedly continued to fire at them from within his residence.
Thankfully, two of the four individuals managed to escape unharmed. The other two, however, sustained injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, their injuries were not deemed life-threatening.
Two of the people were uninjured, while the other two were shot and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“All parties involved are known to each other and reportedly have been involved in prior disputes,” the sheriff’s office said in the arrest announcement.
Crawford was booked into the Clay County jail on a $750,000 bond.Â
