A tragic incident unfolded in Cicero, Illinois, where a teenager has been charged in connection with a robbery that resulted in the death of another teen on Wednesday afternoon.

According to officials, the incident began around 3:20 p.m. when two teenagers arranged to meet for a transaction initially set up on social media. This meeting took place in the 1300 block of South 58th Avenue.

During the encounter, one of the teens allegedly attempted to rob the other, leading to a fatal shooting. Town authorities confirmed the details of the event.

The anticipated sale fell through, and as the teen who was selling the item tried to leave, a third teenager intervened, trying to seize the item, according to reports from officials.

In the ensuing chaos, a relative of the seller emerged from a nearby vehicle. This relative was shot twice by the alleged robber. However, the relative, who was also armed, reportedly fired back, striking the assailant once.

The relative was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, where he remained stable.

A short time later, a teen believed to be the alleged robber came into Rush Oak Park Hospital with a gunshot wound; he later died, officials said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the teen killed as Angel Dominguez.

Officials said Friday that a teen that police said was the alleged purchaser of the marketplace item was working with the other teen and has been charged with armed robbery.

Police are investigating and said the police department is a designated safe place to conduct marketplace transactions.
