EUFAULA, Ala. (WRBL) — An 18-year-old is in custody after a series of vehicle thefts and high-speed pursuits spanning two cities.
According to the Eufaula Police Department, on October 31, Tywon Jackson allegedly stole a car from a gas station on South Eufaula Avenue. Jackson reportedly drove the stolen vehicle to Montgomery, where a brief police chase took place, but he managed to evade capture.
Jackson eventually returned to Eufaula, where law enforcement was prepared for his return. Another chase ensued, ending when officers used spike strips to halt the vehicle near the very gas station from which it was stolen.
Once in custody, Jackson confessed to multiple vehicle thefts and other criminal activities, according to police reports.
He faces charges including two counts of first-degree theft of property, one count of second-degree theft of property, attempting to elude police, and reckless endangerment.
