The people were taken out in handcuffs and seen leaving in police cars.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville City Council meeting Tuesday night was abruptly paused when the room was told to clear out as three people were escorted out of the chambers by police.

Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department Fire Chief Keith Powers was in the chambers when it happened. A spokesperson with JFRD says there was a group people causing a “disturbance” in the back of the room and others joined in.

Police handcuffed three people and removed them from the chambers. Those people were then taken away from the chambers in police cars.

Monica Gold with Jacksonville Community Action Committee said the people who were arrested are part of the organization. Members of JCAC plan to go to the jail to wait outside for them.

The meeting resumed shortly after.
