TYLER, Texas (KETK) — 8-year-old Abigail Vernon from Sulphur Bluff has dreamed of showing her Brahman Bull V6 Mr. Pickup Man in the show ring. Unfortunately, she was too young. Not letting it stop her dream, she set out to show Mr. Pickup man anyway. Abigail began showing with adults.

“The relationship they have is one in a million. So they’ve grown up together, and it’s just amazing to see the bond and the connection that they have,” Abigail’s father, Tyler Vernon, said.

Along with Pickup Man, she has traveled all across the United States, winning banners, trophies and grand champion titles. Abigail is proving everyone wrong and showing that nothing can stop her from following her dreams. In December, Abigail asked her mother, Charli, if she could write a children’s book about her memories with Pickup Man.

“So we kind of unknowingly started the process at Christmas. She got up that morning and just asked, she was like, Mom, I think we should write a book, and I said, ‘About what? She said, ‘Pickup man, duh.’ So we got up the next day, and I just asked her if she was serious, and we kind of started. Then we kind of had the whole book wrote within just a few days. It took a couple of months of tweaking it and changing things. The illustrations is kind of what took the longest, because every picture in the book is a picture that I have taken of them. So that’s a real-life moment between the two of them,” Abigail’s mother, Charli Vernon, said.

In May, that dream came true, too. Abigail and her mother wrote V6 Mr. Pickup Man and His Tiny Little Ranch Hand and dedicated it to all the kids in agriculture. Today, Abigail, Mr. Pickup Man, and her family stopped by East Texas Live to talk about their book.
