HUNTSVILLE, Texas () A 9-year-old Texas boy has been hospitalized with severe head injuries following a fight at school, according to multiple reports.

KPRC-TV in Houston reports the incident happened Friday afternoon inside the gymnasium at Samuel Walker Houston Elementary School in Huntsville. The school’s campus was placed on a “temporary hold” status while an ambulance was called.

The Daily Mail reports the boy was involved in a dispute with another student over a basketball.

While there are few details of the fight, KPRC reports the boy was taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.

A CT scan, according to the Daily Mail showed the child was suffering from severe brain swelling.

The boy was released from the hospital Tuesday, the boy’s mother told KPRC.
