DENVER (KDVR) A U.S. Air Force serviceman from Texas who traveled to Colorado with the intent to kidnap and sexually assault a 14-year-old girl has been sentenced to life in federal prison.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas announced on Friday that 24-year-old Travis Robert Larson from Denton, Texas, received a life sentence in federal prison. Larson had pleaded guilty in November 2025 to charges of enticing a minor and sexually abusing a minor.
While serving in the Air Force at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, Larson made the journey to Colorado to abduct and abuse a young girl with whom he had been communicating online over several years.
According to court documents, on May 4, 2025, the girl’s father reported her missing to Colorado Springs police. He discovered messages on her phone exchanged with Larson, revealing Larson’s plan to drive to Colorado, take her, and return to Texas with her.

On May 4, 2025, according to court documents, the girl’s father told police in Colorado Springs that his 14-year-old daughter was missing, and that he had found messages with Larson on her phone, indicating that Larson had discussed driving to Colorado to pick her up and bring her to Texas.
Investigators obtained surveillance footage of Larson picking up the child, and tracked his vehicle moving from Texas to Colorado Springs and back during the late evening hours of May 3 to May 4, 2025.
Court documents state that Larson picked her up around 3:30 a.m. on May 4 and drove her to a nearby park, where he sexually assaulted her, and instead of taking her back home, he drove her against her will to Texas. He hid the girl in the trunk of his vehicle to sneak her onto the air force base and to his dormitory, where he sexually abused her multiple times.
The USAF Security Forces Squadron recovered the child near Larson’s dorm room on the evening of May 5. According to court documents, the child told authorities that Larson began communicating with her when she was 10 or 11 years old, and that she would send him sexually explicit images of herself upon his request.
The child told authorities that Larson had traveled to meet her for sex in Colorado in late April 2025 as well.
“Text messages between Larson and the child indicate that Larson promised to bring the child alcohol and described his desire to have sex with the child and to resort to violence, if necessary,” a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Court documents said that evidence in Larson’s phone indicated that he was aware of the child’s name and age.
