A Texas woman faces charges after allegedly setting fire to her boyfriend’s clothing in a barbecue pit, which resulted in a blaze that engulfed an apartment complex on Monday morning.
The Harris County Fire Marshal has identified the woman involved in the Southlake Villas apartments fire as Crystal D. Randall, as confirmed to Fox News Digital on Tuesday.
According to investigators, the fire ignited following a domestic dispute where Randall set her boyfriend’s clothes alight in a barbecue pit situated on an apartment patio, as reported by FOX26 Houston.
Although Randall attempted to put out the flames, the fire reignited, eventually spreading to the residential building.

Fire officials reported that 13 units suffered “heavy and irreparable damage” in the blaze that occurred in Harris County, Texas, on January 5, 2026.

“It spread way over here,” witness Mario Thompson told KTRK-TV. “The roof had caved in. It was like stuff falling off the back. I’m like, ‘Dang.’”

An ember rekindled a hotspot that forced firefighters to return to the scene. One firefighter was injured battling the second fire and was in stable condition at a hospital, FOX26 reported.
Randall was charged with reckless arson and taken to a hospital for unknown reasons.
