Texas Mother Faces Capital Murder Charges in Alleged Shooting Deaths of Two Sons

A Texas mother has been charged with capital murder after authorities said she fatally shot her two sons and appeared to injure herself.

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as 42-year-old Colleen Nichole Lemmon, who faces two counts of capital murder.

Deputies were called to a home on Big Sky Drive in Waxahachie shortly before 4:15 a.m. Thursday following a report of an “unknown emergency.”

When deputies arrived, they found two male victims inside the residence, both suffering from gunshot wounds.

Christopher Scott Pitre, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim, a 15-year-old boy, was transported to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Lemmon was also found at the home with injuries that authorities said were not life-threatening.

Investigators said evidence collected at the scene established probable cause to believe Lemmon shot both of her sons.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by FOX 4, deputies found Lemmon covered in blood, with what appeared to be self-inflicted cuts on her wrists. A handgun was found nearby.

Lemmon allegedly told officers, “I shot both my kids.”

Authorities arrested Lemmon and took her to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Scott Pitre, the boys’ father, told NBC 5 that his younger son had recently turned 15. He said he is seeking justice for both of his sons.

Ida Brown, who lives nearby, called the killings “heartbreaking.”

“It’s heartbreaking, and I’m praying for them,” Brown told FOX 4.

Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman expressed his condolences to the victims’ family.

“My deepest sympathies go out to the victims’ father, family members, and loved ones involved in this tragic incident,” Norman said in a statement. “They will remain in our prayers during this difficult time.”

Lemmon remains in custody on a $2.5 million bond.
