Texas savagely trolls Oklahoma after winning Red River Rivalry game

Texas isn’t easily swayed by national rankings.

After decisively defeating the No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners with a 23-6 win in the Red River Rivalry on Saturday afternoon, the Longhorns took to social media to poke fun at their rivals.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), Texas shared a screenshot humorously suggesting a report of Oklahoma Football’s Instagram account for impersonating “a good football team.”

With this victory, Texas (4-2) notched a significant milestone for the season in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. They not only toppled the previously undefeated Oklahoma (5-1) but also delivered a crushing blow in front of 92,100 fans and a national TV audience.

The Sooners, who entered the game with an impressive average of 33.8 points per game, failed to score a single touchdown. Although they led at halftime with two field goals, they were completely shut out in the final half.

Arch Manning, who has struggled to meet the expectations that came with his legendary last name, completed 21 of his 27 passes for 166 yards and the go-ahead touchdown pass on the opening drive of the second half.

They never looked back after that.

Leading 13-6 in the fourth quarter, Ryan Niblett delivered the dagger when he took a punt return 75 yards to the house for a game-deciding touchdown.

“We learned how to fight today,” Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said. “We saw the true character of the men in that locker room.”

And after the beatdown, Texas landed one last jab after the bell.

Texas, the No.1 ranked team in preseason, returned to the victory column after a brutal loss to Florida knocked them out of the top 25.

They’ll look to keep the momentum rolling when they head up to Lexington to face the Kentucky Wildcats on Oct. 18.
