Texas corrections officer dismissed over chicken wing smuggling accusations

In Travis County, Texas, a correctional officer from the Sheriff’s Office faces charges for allegedly smuggling contraband into the county correctional facility. The contraband in question? Chicken wings.

According to a press release from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO), on August 21, a member of the Security Threat Intelligence Unit discovered that Corrections Officer Amos Nyanway allegedly delivered chicken wings to an inmate in exchange for cash.
