Kylie Jenner has been accused of treating Timothee Chalamet like a ‘possession’, with their relationship compared to that of a mother and son as opposed to a boyfriend and girlfriend after they engaged in an awkward display of affection.

The couple fuelled intense speculation about the state of their relationship as Jenner, 27, attempted to get a kiss in front of the cameras from a seemingly ‘reluctant’ Chalamet, 29, as they watched a tennis match at India Wells in California on Sunday.

The make-up mogul, dressed in a revealing red crop top, grabbed her boyfriend’s face as a friend held up a phone to take a picture of the pair.

But the Oscar-nominee barely turned his head, instead keeping his eyes fixated ahead of him as Jenner struggled to land the kiss on his lips.

Body language expert Judi James said although Hollywood’s ‘hottest’ couple do seem to look relaxed, the awkward PDA made them look ‘totally out of sync’.

‘Timothee obligingly rips off his shades to pose for the camera, but Kylie takes over the choreography in a dominant and demanding way, grabbing his head to try to convert his polite pose into a couples’ picture,’ James told DailyMail.com exclusively.

‘Kylie uses cupped hands to try to pull his head round for a kiss while Timothee looks totally reluctant. She pulls his head closer to hers, but he still has his eyes fixed politely on the camera, causing some kind of a “kiss tussle” as she seems to make him respond to her guppy lip kiss despite his obvious reluctance.’

She continued: ‘Even when he does comply, he keeps his eyes open to suggest a lack of passion or romance. The ritual looks very much like a mom trying to get a kiss from her kid when dropping him off at school.’

The couple, who were sat front row at last weekend’s Academy Awards where Chalamet failed to land Lead Actor for his turn as Nobel Prize winning Bob Dylan, were joined by Jenner’s sister Kendall on Sunday.

Chalamet, dressed in a striped shirt and leather pants was seen cheering as they watched Holger Rune of Denmark taken on France’s Ugo Humbert, with 12-ranked Rune emerging victorious over the 18th-ranked Humbert.

During the match, Jenner was also seen rubbing the actor’s stomach, something James described as the reality star adopting ‘mum mode’.

‘Kylie’s next gesture is one that suggests not only that she’s in mum mode here but that she is also keen to mark out Timothee as her possession,’ she said.

‘As he leans back in his seat, stretching out while still communicating with the guy in front, Kylie stretches out her arm and begins to rub him on his tummy.

‘It’s a very exaggerated gesture with no apparent response from him, making it look again maternal rather than sexual.’

The footage sparked a furious debate about the state of their two-year relationship, with critics claiming ‘the end is coming’.

‘She is waaaay too clingy! Desperate almost,’ wrote one person on Reddit about Jenner’s actions.

‘She is more into him than he is into her,’ said another.

A third added: ‘You can’t convince me this relationship is real.’

The outing comes days after Jenner was accused of jeopardising Chalamet’s second chance at an Oscar after she made a surprise appearance at the ceremony.

The actor, who lost out to favourite Adrien Brody for The Brutalist, had picked up the gong at the SAG Awards the previous week which Jenner did not attend.

Their latest kiss was worlds away from their PDA at the Oscars, with the inseparable pair, who have been dating since 2023, sitting hand-in-hand, stealing affectionate glances and kisses.

But during a commercial break ahead of the award for Best Costume Design, Chalamet was caught on camera leading Jenner out of the auditorium.

Minutes later, when his ex-girlfriend Lily-Rose Depp took to the stage to help present the award alongside Chalamet’s A Complete Unknown costar Elle Fanning, the A-list couple was nowhere to be seen.

insiders told DailyMail.com that he whisked her away to avoid any ‘drama’ when Jenner is so ‘fragile’ following the death of her beloved hairstylist and friend, Jesús Guerrero.

‘Kylie struggles with insecurity issues, and she can feel out of place at these events,’ they said. ‘She is aware of some of the criticism levelled at her and how some people believe she shouldn’t be at these ceremonies. She likes to void any drama.

‘Plus, she is in a very fragile state right now. Jesus’ death has shaken her. He was not only her hair stylist but her best friend. She is really, really crushed by this and Timothée is doing everything that he can to be there for her and show her the love she needs right now.’

‘They are both aware that had they stayed seated, everyone would have been talking about their reaction to Lily-Rose on stage,’ the source continued.
