Billionaire John Paulson is officially off the market, getting engaged to his girlfriend Alina de Almeida.
The 68-year-old – who made headlines in late March for hosting a Trump fundraiser – got engaged to his 35-year-old girlfriend.
The engagement comes as Paulson is still embroiled in a divorce battle with his ex Jenny Zaharia, who he was married to from 2001 and 2021.
Paulson left Zaharia for the much-younger dietician in 2021, with a source telling Page Six they are quite happy together.
‘John and Alina have been together for two and a half years. They are very happy together and have gotten engaged,’ the source said.

While she was mentioned as the financier’s fiancee in a recent Bloomberg interview, it’s unclear if there is a ring yet.
‘The word ‘fiancée’ has been said,’ a source added, referring to them talking with friends, ‘but I don’t think anyone has seen a ring.’
‘He’s trying to be discreet so as not to get Jenny all riled up,’ the source added, though it’s unclear when a ring will surface.
Paulson – who is worth a whopping $4.7 billion – is still locked into a bitter battle with his ex Zaharia.
Attorneys representing the disgruntled wife of hedge fund tycoon John Paulson have responded to his accusations of her being ‘greedy’ by asserting that his alleged transfer of funds into undisclosed trusts represents the ‘extreme form of mistreatment within a marriage’.
Paulson, a billionaire, initiated a divorce from his soon-to-be former spouse Jenny, aged 52, in 2021. This move prompted allegations from Jenny claiming that he had redirected over $1 billion into confidential trusts, as per legal documents reviewed by DailyMail.com.
In response, the legal representatives of the 67-year-old indicated in official papers that Jenny’s actions stem from ‘greed.’ They cautioned that should the trusts be divided per her request, the assets would attract substantial taxes, leading to a decreased inheritance for their two daughters, Giselle, 18, and Danielle, 20.
But Jenny’s lawyers have hit back, telling DailyMail.com he should ‘know about being greedy’ after filing a new claim accusing her husband of a ‘sham purchase’ of a luxury penthouse in Puerto Rico to ‘improperly enrich himself’ by $10million at the expense of the trusts.

‘Imagine the nerve of a guy who we allege spends years secretly stealing assets from his wife that are part of the marital estate before a divorce proceeding,’ said Robert Cohen, attorney for Jenny, of Cohen Clair Lans Greifer & Simpson LLP.
‘Then he secretly takes funds out of the Trust he secretly set up for his personal purposes to buy a $20 million condo. But he purchased it for only $5 million and apparently hasn’t closed on the sale yet.
‘And then he accuses her publicly of being ‘greedy.’ It’s fair to say: That’s what’s called ‘chutzpah’.’
Legal documents filed on September 21 state Paulson bought the apartment at the St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort in 2020 for an artificially low price of $5.6 million from a 2009 family trust, which owned the property.
