Following an exhilarating World Series that fans will remember for years to come, and the crowning of the first consecutive champion in 25 years, Major League Baseball is now ushering in what promises to be an eventful offseason.

The offseason kicked off in full swing on Monday. While the Dodgers celebrated their victory in Los Angeles, having clinched the title against the Blue Jays in Toronto on Saturday, several players opted to explore free agency by activating their opt-out clauses.

One such player is Mets first baseman Pete Alonso, whose decision to test free agency again was widely anticipated. Alonso is reportedly aiming for a lucrative seven-year contract, according to The Post’s Mike Puma, especially after a standout season.

Another prominent player entering free agency is Cody Bellinger. His decision was expected, especially after playing a pivotal role in the Yankees’ successful 94-win season. Bellinger joined the Yankees following a trade from the Cubs, a strategic move to fill the void left by Juan Soto’s departure in free agency.
