A Jacksonville couple has fed the hungry for over a decade. Now, they need help with their food pantry after thieves stole their A/C and their van broke down.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — For nearly 15 years, Bernard and Natasha Mosley have served their community with more than just food…offering love, faith, and compassion to hundreds in need each week.
From a small shed tucked behind a church off Moncrief-Dinsmore Road, the Mosleys run God’s Infinity Faithful and True, or GIFT, a food pantry that’s become a lifeline for families, seniors, and veterans in Jacksonville’s 32219 zip code.
“So originally we were on 8th and Davis behind the McDonald’s and we started outside handing out clothes and hot food,” said Natasha Mosley.
The couple’s mission began with simple acts of kindness. Now, they feed nearly 300 people every week…all while operating out of a shed with no air conditioning, no permanent facility, and no transportation of their own.
“We have more kids over here that desire help. We have more seniors, our veterans that desire help,” Natasha added.
But recently, the couple’s work has been threatened. Thieves stole the shed’s window AC units, and their transportation broke down leaving them to rent a U-Haul just to pick up donated food.
“We have been looking for a brick-and-mortar building, but the prices are so outrageous. As far as the transportation we had, it broke down on us,” Bernard said.
Still, the Mosleys keep going, powered by faith and community need.
“That’s what God tell us to do,” Natasha said, when asked why they continue their mission despite the setbacks.
Volunteers regularly show support, and the shed is located on a church’s property that believes in the couple’s mission. But appeals to city leaders and local companies for help have so far gone unanswered.
“If we don’t get it now, we’re not going to stop,” Bernard said. “She’ll get in her little car and pack up whatever box she needs to pack up in her car…and she’ll take it to them.”
Now, after years of answering calls for help, the Mosleys are asking for someone to answer theirs.
