ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A man accused of making threats toward a St. Augustine church was found with several weapons in his vehicle, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies were notified Wednesday of dozens of threats made against Anchor Faith Church in St. Augustine, requiring the church’s school to go on lockdown, the agency said in a social media post.
Tityus Mitchell, 30, made social media posts “making specific threats of violence towards the church and staff members,” the agency said.
Deputies searched for Mitchell and found him in his vehicle near County Road 210 and Russell Sampson Road in St. Johns County. They recovered a shotgun, ammunition, an axe, two baseball bats, two machetes, marijuana, and ski masks in his vehicle, according to SJSO.
Mitchell was arrested and charged with written threats to kill and misdemeanor disrupting a school function.
