A confrontation that began inside a restaurant escalated when the alleged shooter engaged in a fight with a security guard, eventually leading to gunfire.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A violent incident on Jacksonville’s Westside has left three individuals injured after a brawl turned into a shooting at a local restaurant, according to authorities.
During a press briefing, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred at around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday at Tipsy Bar And Grill. The gunfire wounded a woman and two men, one of whom was employed as a security guard at the venue.
Investigators noted that the altercation erupted inside the establishment when the suspected gunman clashed with the security guard, subsequently drawing a firearm and opening fire.
In a swift response, another security guard managed to subdue the suspect, restraining him until law enforcement officers arrived on the scene, according to JSO.
The gunman was taken into custody.
The three who were shot are at a hospital receiving treatment. JSO said they are stable and expected to recover.
The suspected shooter and the three who were shot are all reportedly in their 20s.
Officers are reviewing surveillance video and speaking to witnesses to learn more about what led up to the shooting. They believe this is an isolated incident.
