A beauty influencer has left people baffled by revealing she gives herself a ‘mini nose job’ every night.

Isabelle Lux, from New York, who has more than half a million followers on TikTok, was greeted with scepticism when she posted a ‘nose taping tutorial’.

Captioned with the hashtag ‘#reverseaging’, Isabelle seems to be implying that the quick trick, which makes use of cheap kinesiology tape normally used to treat sports injuries, can help achieve a more youthful appearance.

She explains that she cuts the tape into small strips of varying thickness, using the narrower strips to ‘go right underneath’ her nose ‘and kind of lift it up’ and the wider ones to go across the bridge of the nose to create a ‘button shape’.

‘I personally like to create this shape because it makes a little button on my nose,’ she said.

Hundreds of TikTok users have tried the trend, but many have cast doubt on its effectiveness.

While nose taping is a common practice after a rhinoplasty, there is little effectiveness without.

Isabelle explains that it can aid breathing ’cause it kind of expands your nostrils’.

Adding that ‘it’s super easy, especially if you do it about an hour after your skincare’ when the tape is more likely to stick, Isabelle suggests that her followers ‘can literally create any shape’ that they want for their nose using her technique.

She particularly recommends using tape along the bridge of the nose to bring swelling down.

‘You can do anything. Sky’s the limit,’ she says.

Yet Isabelle’s video was greeted with a mixture of scepticism and outright derision by a number of TikTokers who commented on the post.

One person, who goes by Holly Dolly on the platform, didn’t mince her words, stating: ‘To anyone watching this, nose taping DOES NOT reshape the nose and is not what it’s used for’.

Another, Josefine, was equally scathing: ‘I refuse to believe this does anything’.

A number of fellow TikTokers were sceptical about Isabelle's claims, with several dismissing them out of hand

A third added: ‘That’s not how it works. You cannot reshape your nose without damaging it like surgery or breaking it and then getting it fixed’.

While a fourth commented: ‘Guys in case it isn’t obvious, this is 100 per cent nonsense. Just a blatant scam. Shame on all these influencers.’

Other users shared their bafflement at Isabelle’s routine, with one person reasonably asking, ‘Do you get a red mark on your face in the morning?’

However, a few TikTokers appeared to welcome Isabelle’s tutorial, with one writing ‘I’ll have to try it’.
