Timothee Chalamet: Knicks Triumph Tops Winning an Oscar

The New York Knicks staged a remarkable comeback to clinch the NBA Finals on Saturday, securing a win against the San Antonio Spurs that sent both fans and celebrities into a state of euphoria.

Numerous high-profile figures flocked to the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, to witness the thrilling showdown, where the Knicks emerged victorious with a 94-90 triumph over the Spurs.

Timothee Chalamet, a well-known Knicks enthusiast, was seen cheering at the game, joining players and elated fans in on-court celebrations.

In a video posted on X, the actor, famous for his role in “Marty Supreme,” was captured amidst the enthusiastic crowd, exclaiming, “I’d choose this over the Oscars any day.”

“Come on, baby! The Knicks are champions, baby!” he shouted, capturing the exuberant scene on his phone as the festivities continued inside the arena.

Another short reel captured Chalamet sharing a friendly embrace with Knicks player Karl-Anthony Towns who is currently dating Kylie Jenner’s on-and-off BFF Jordyn Woods.

Chalamet also jumped to his Instagram stories to share a picture of the team receiving a trophy and added the text: ‘Champions.’

The star was later seen holding up a newspaper declaring the New York Knicks champs while standing next to Knicks player Mikal Bridges.

Elsewhere in the night, Chalamet got soaked with champagne while in the Knicks locker room and the moment was shared to his main Instagram page. 

In the caption of the video, the actor typed out, ‘THEY DID IT.’ 

Sydney Sweeney and boyfriend Scooter Braun were other celebrities that were seen in the stands during game five of the NBA Finals.

Trailing by 16 points in the third quarter, Knicks captain Jalen Brunson led the fourth-quarter rally to clinch New York’s first title since 1973 and just the third in franchise history with the 94-90 win.

Brunson would win MVP honors after his 45-point effort – the most any Knicks player scored in a Finals game since another famous team captain, Willis Reed, dropped 38 in Game 3 of the 1970 series. 

Remarkably, the Knicks trailed in the final two minutes of each of the series’ first four games, three of which they still managed to win, including their historic 29-point comeback on Wednesday at Madison Square Garden.

Coach Mike Brown and his players celebrated the win with a chorus of ‘Who Let the Dogs Out?’ But nothing could match the euphoric pandemonium sweeping the streets of New York.

Once again, the Knicks hosted their own watch parties, although only 3,000 ticketed fans were permitted within the NYPD’s ‘frozen zone’ around the arena.

Meanwhile, attendees at Radio City Music Hall watched on big screen televisions for $10 per person, while countless locals gathered around outdoor TVs along the city’s sidewalks and alleys.

And then there were the city’s designated outdoor areas, like Central Park, where thousands watched their Knicks make history on enormous projection screens.

‘I have no words,’ Brunson told ABC as post-game celebrations raged in San Antonio and New York. ‘It’s everything I ever dreamed of.’

His current teammates, fellow Villanova Wildcats and long-time friends Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart added 14 and 13 points, respectively. 

The trio of ‘Nova Knicks’ won an NCAA title together in 2017 before Brunson and Bridges returned to capture another with the Wildcats two years later.

Despite his history of success, though, Brunson was at a loss for words while celebrating his first NBA crown on Saturday.

‘I don’t know what I’m feeling,’ Brunson said. ‘I’m in awe. Whenever someone counted us out, we found a way to come back and do something about it.’
