The latest Santa Ana wind event that officials have described as “life-threatening,” “extreme,” and “destructive” is expected to last until Wednesday afternoon.

Red Flag warnings have been issued for much of Southern California, including the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys, Beverly Hills, Hollywood Hills, Santa Monica Mountains and more.

Whether you live in these communities or adjacent, officials are urging residents to take precautions to stay safe during the latest wind event.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Secure any loose objects
  • Charge necessary electronic and light devices
  • Park cars away from trees
  • Fill up generators
  • Adjust travel plans
  • Use extreme caution when using anything that can spark a fire
  • During the wind event, stay away from trees and windows

If you need to evacuate, have an emergency supply kit filled with water, snacks, important papers, a first aid kit, and clothes, ready to go.
