First Coast Crime Stoppers pays out a historic reward after a tip leads to arrests in Breon Allen’s murder.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — First Coast Crime Stoppers announced it’s paying out its largest reward in the organization’s history after receiving a tip that led police to the arrests of two suspects in the murder of 7-year-old Breon Allen.

Donte McGhee, 17, and Tavaris Kelly, 17, were arrested on March 28 by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff T.K. Waters said they were the two that pulled the trigger and killed Breon Allen while he was walking on the Westside with 21-year-old Lafayette Mango in January. They join four other suspects arrested in the case.

Chase Robinson, executive director of First Coast Crime Stoppers, told First Coast News Thursday morning they received 22 anonymous tips following the child’s death. One of those tips resulted in the arrests of McGhee and Kelly.

The tipster will receive a $25,000 reward for providing the information that led to the arrests, the largest payout in First Coast Crime Stoppers history, Robinson said.

“It’s wonderful and really speaks to the community,” Robinson told First Coast News. “The community is really taking a stand against horrible acts of violence like this.”

Robinson said from the moment a caller leaves a tip with Crime Stoppers to the time they pick up their cash reward, they remain “completely anonymous.” In fact, it’s even a felony if the identity of the tipster is ever released.

If you have information you’d like to share with First Coast Crime Stoppers, you can leave your tip anonymously at 866-845-8477.
