Toledo Manhunt Intensifies: Police Pursue Multiple Leads in Festival Shooting Case

The search for the gunmen responsible for the attack entered its third day on Monday, with no arrests yet made. Authorities have expressed that they are diligently following several leads. In a social media update, Toledo police conveyed that investigators are making headway, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in sharing any visual evidence from the festival.

The incident occurred around 5:37 p.m. on Saturday near the busy Old West End Festival, an annual event that draws large crowds with its offerings of live music, diverse food vendors, and home tours. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered multiple individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.

Fortunately, as of Sunday, all 12 victims were reported to be in stable condition and are continuing to recover. The victims’ ages spanned from 14 to 61, with the majority being in their early 20s, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of this violent act.

Toledo Deputy Chief Joseph Heffernan said during a news conference that investigators believe the shooting involved at least two gunmen who “were probably shooting at each other.”

Authorities have not released descriptions of any suspects or identified a possible motive.

Lucas County Prosecutor Julia Bates vowed that “justice will be swift and strong.”

“Those who were frightened, traumatized or harmed by this violence will remain at the forefront of our efforts,” Bates said in a statement. “I’ve felt outrage before, but this is personal. This is my home. These are my friends and neighbors. It is not OK.”
