Tom Cruise has finally spoken out regarding the unexpected separation of his former spouse, Nicole Kidman, from country music star Keith Urban, after nearly two decades of marriage.
The 63-year-old actor, who was married to Kidman from 1990 until 2001, allegedly remarked that Kidman’s breakup with Urban is a form of ‘karma’ due to how she managed their own divorce, during which he received significantly less public empathy.
According to an insider speaking with the International Business Times, “When Tom and Nicole ended their marriage, he was largely blamed while she garnered all the sympathy. He was cast as the villain, a label that lingered for years.”
The source further elaborated that Cruise was deeply hurt by Kidman’s approach to their split, noting her public jabs about his height and her portrayal of herself as the victim, while he remained silent and endured the criticism.
It was mentioned that the Mission: Impossible star now feels ‘vindicated’ with Kidman’s second marriage ending.
‘It annoyed him when this guy was painted as this saintly figure who’d swooped in on a white horse, so to speak, and rescued Nicole from the hellish memory of their marriage,’ they said.

‘He’s following the divorce news closely, and a part of him feels badly for her, since he knows how much she’s hurting. At the same time, he’s also allowing himself a little pat on the back and telling people close to him that this is karma doing its thing.
‘Bottom line: He thought they were a hyped up couple who clearly had very little in common from the get-go — now he’s been proved right.’
The Daily Mail has contacted Cruise’s representatives for comment.
Tom and Nicole were one of Hollywood’s biggest power couples in the ’90s and shocked the world when they announced their split in 2001, reportedly over her refusal to convert herself and their two children, Conor and Isabella, to the Church of Scientology.
In 2006, Tom got married a third time, to actress Katie Holmes, and shares daughter Suri, 19, with her.
Tom and Katie divorced in 2012, and he is estranged from both her and Suri.
It comes after Keith Urban made a very surprising return to social media, after maintaining his silence for almost two months following his shock split with Nicole.
The country superstar, 58, shared a post over the weekend giving fans a glimpse of his new US reality TV competition called The Road, hosted by Blake Shelton.
The 63-year-old Hollywood star, who was married to Nicole from 1990 – 2001, has reportedly said Nicole’s split with Keith is ‘karma’ for how she treated him after their own split, in which he did not receive as much public sympathy as she did. Pictured: Nicole and Keith

The series follows 12 up-and-coming country music acts competing to open for Urban on his American tour.
In the clip, Urban shared a light-hearted look back at some of his most memorable hairstyles over the years, as he discusses his one true passion – making music.
Urban candidly spoke out in the first episode about the challenges of life on tour, describing moments of being ‘completely lonely and miserable’ while away from his family.
‘Where do we start? It’s a calling, and you’re going to do it or you’re not going to make it,’ Urban said.
‘When you wake up on a tour bus at 3:30 in the morning, sick as a dog, in the middle of nowhere, completely lonely and miserable… You ask yourself, “Why am I doing this?” The only answer can be: Because this is what I’m born to do.’
The New Zealand-born singer’s candid reflections surfaced weeks after Kidman filed for divorce on September 30, ending 19 years of marriage and their life together raising two children.
Sources close to the pair have suggested that their busy schedules – Urban on tour and Kidman juggling back-to-back film projects – led to a ‘lack of intimacy’ that contributed to the surprise split.
Earlier this month, insiders claimed that they know the real reason the A-list couple have parted ways – Urban is having a ‘midlife crisis’.
He has been ‘acting out’, RadarOnline reported last week, and has made a ‘string of confusing choices’ according to sources.
The publication reports Urban had felt hemmed in by his marriage, and his frustrations resulted in the pair’s split.
They had been experiencing marital difficulties but were ‘getting it back together’ when he floored her with the decision that it was all over, according to a source who has known the Australian actress for decades.
Those within Nicole’s inner circle believe that by the time TMZ broke news of the couple’s separation, Urban was ‘done’ with the marriage.
At the time, reports indicated Nicole was ‘blindsided’ by the break-up.
However, it was the Oscar-winner who filed divorce papers, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’.
