Life really is like a box of chocolates.

Tom Hanks, 68, went viral after making a surprise cameo in his son Chet’s new music video.

While Chet appeared as Forrest Gump in a scene aboard the shrimping boat “Jenny,” as well as in another during a cross-country run across America, the video took an exciting turn when Tom himself appeared on the famous bus stop bench central to the hit movie.

Even more touching was one of the music video’s final scenes when Tom and his son – who shared an infamously checkered past – smiled and embraced each other.

Listeners rushed to the comments section of the music video on YouTube to rave about Tom’s surprise cameo. They also applauded Chet’s musical skills.

“You know he surprised his dad with this,” one person wrote.

“He has the same running movements his dad did in the movie,” another commented. “Really good song.”

“Dope song, very well written,” added a third listener. “Love his dad and the nostalgia of it.”

“Gotta love Chet goofing on his dad all through the video,” wrote another. “Awesome.”

“This is incredible,” one more fan commented. “Congratulations on a bad ass video and song.”

The Post has reached out to both Tom and Chet’ reps for comment.

Chet’s “You Better Run” is the latest single to come from the actor/musician and his friend Drew Arthur’s country music duo.

According to the pair’s website, their band Something Out West was started in California when they “became roommates at a pivotal time — both embarking on a journey to sobriety that sparked a deep friendship and creative partnership.”

“Their move to Nashville refined their sound, blending distinctive vocals, timeless storytelling, and contemporary influences that honor the genre’s roots while pushing it forward,” the bio read.

Chet, who is also the son of the actress Rita Wilson, 68, recently discussed his music and acting careers during an interview with Esquire magazine in February.

“Ultimately, I consider myself an artist, and acting and music are just two different mediums for being able to express myself,” he said while promoting his new Netflix show, “Running Point.”

“I’ve been working on this music for a long time,” he added, “and so I would like to be touring and finally letting the world hear it.”

Chet’s new song also comes weeks after he claimed his childhood neighborhood was “burning to the ground” amid the deadly Palisades wildfires. Days later, The Post obtained photos that seemingly showed the mansion still standing following the devastation.
