Border czar Tom Homan in NYC to meet with Mayor Eric Adams

NEW YORK () President Donald Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, met with New York Mayor Eric Adams on Thursday to discuss ongoing Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations throughout the city.

Adams met with Homan in December and said the two “have the same desire” to deport migrants who commit violent crimes in New York City.

New York Post sources say Homan is “not happy” about the city’s lack of action to help the Trump administration.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency on Wednesday clawed back more than $80 million from New York City over money for sheltering migrants.

Adams, a Democrat, said city officials had contacted the White House about getting back the money, and they are seeking an emergency meeting with FEMA and exploring legal options. Adams said he would discuss the matter with Homan when they meet.

Adams isn’t the only New York official to draw the attention of the Trump administration.

The president’s newly installed attorney general, Pam Bondi, went after New York leaders Wednesday over the state’s immigration policies, announcing a lawsuit in the latest effort by the Republican administration to carry out the president’s hardline immigration campaign pledges.

In her first press conference since taking office last week, Bondi accused New York leaders of prioritizing “illegal aliens over American citizens.” Standing in front of federal agents who have been tasked with helping in Trump’s immigration crackdown, she echoed the president’s rhetoric as she vowed the Justice Department would take on communities that thwart federal immigration efforts.
