Smallville actor Tom Welling was arrested in connection with driving under the influence Monday in Northern California, looking noticeably worse for wear in his mug shot.

Welling, 47, was taken into custody in the parking lot of an Arby’s restaurant in Yreka, California shortly after midnight, TMZ reported Tuesday, citing police records, as his blood alcohol level was measured at or above 0.08 percent.

Some social media users commented on Welling’s appearance in the wake of the incident, as his mug shot circulated online after it was released by authorities.

‘That’s Tom Welling? Damn he aged a lot,’ said one user, as another added, ‘Wow, he did age…’

Another remarked, ‘He aged .. he used to be so handsome,’ while one user said, ‘Superman looks like s***.’

Welling has since been released from custody after he was cited for the violation, the New York Post reported Tuesday.

Dailymail.com has reached out to reps for Welling for comment.

Many users concurred that despite the unfortunate incident, he was still their favorite actor to play the superhero: One said he remained the ‘best Superman’ while another said he’s ‘still my Superman.

Others referred to his past portrayal of the iconic character in relation to Monday’s incident.

One user wrote, ‘Clark say it ain’t so, while another joked, ‘”Do you know who I am?” as he pulls his shirt open…..’

Said one user: ‘Trump needs to pardon Superman.’

Some users focused on the somber side of the incident, as one user said the actor was ‘out there putting people’s lives at risk’ amid the DUI allegations.

Others expressed hope Welling, a native of Putnam Valley, New York, can move forward with wisdom.

‘Hope he can find recovery,’ one user said, while another said, ‘Hope he recovers and learns from his mistake. Nobody is perfect and thank God no one was hurt.’

One user advised, ‘Tom, this is the time to never drink again,’ while another said, ‘This makes me so sad … I hope he learns from this and never does it again.’

Welling has not yet publicly commented on his arrest in the small Northern California town, which is about 16 miles south of the Oregon border.

Welling and his wife Jessica Rose Lee, who is an equestrian, are parents to two sons: Thomson Wylde, six, and Rocklin Von, three.

Jessica has the location ‘Northern California’ in the bio line of her Instagram page.

Welling most recently posted to social media on Sunday, as he wished his spouse a happy birthday.

‘Happy Birthday to our Angel who makes our dreams come true and inspires us even more!’ Welling said. ‘We love you to the moon and back! @jessicarosewelling #happybirthday #love.’

The couple last month celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary, as they tied the knot on November 30, 2019 in San Ynez, California at Sunstone Vineyards & Winery.

Welling was previously wed to model Jamie White, with the pair divorcing in 2013 following a decade-long marriage.

Welling, in a chat with Comicbookmovie.com in October, said that he would be amenable to reprise his role as the Man of Steel at some point.

‘You know, I think now because of the two boys that I have with my lovely wife … we have a bunch of costumes at home,’ Welling said. ‘It started out at the first Halloween and now we have, I don’t know, 40 or 50 costumes.

‘The one costume we don’t have is the Superman costume.’

He continued, ‘I asked my son why and he said, “Because he’s taken” and I said, “By who?” “By [you].” That was like, “Alright, I think I’m open to the idea now.”

‘So, if you know anybody, I think it would be great. I think it would be fun to be part of.’
