() The monthslong search for a Houston rapper’s missing daughter ended New Year’s Day when 6-year-old Truth was found safe near the Mexican border in California.

Trae tha Truth reunited with his daughter after she disappeared in August during what was supposed to be a weekend visit with her mother, who did not have sole custody. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and U.S. marshals, had been searching for the child.

“None of this would have happened without God,” Trae said Monday on ‘s “Banfield.” “The mountains that he moved and the people he put in place, that was the true blessing.”

The rapper said his daughter is adjusting well despite initial hesitation during their reunion. She is currently receiving therapy to process the ordeal.

According to Trae, therapists have indicated that “some things definitely have been placed in” Truth’s mind during her absence.

Law enforcement officials told the rapper that Truth was discovered “super close to the border.” The location of her mother was not disclosed in the interview.

“As a loving father, I’ll be here to the end,” Trae said. “I’m going to ride it out, whatever comes with it. But one thing for sure, she’s going to know she’s protected and loved.”

Trae has since bought Truth a pet goat and says he’s focusing on the healing process, taking things “day by day” while letting his daughter process the experience at her own pace.

A felony warrant had been issued for the arrest of the child’s mother, Heather Cuevas. Multiple agencies, including the FBI, U.S. marshals, the Black and Missing Foundation and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, were involved in the search.

Private investigators spotted Truth with her mother in Los Angeles in September.

The custody dispute between Trae and Cuevas spans six years. Earlier in 2024, Trae was granted primary custody, with Cuevas receiving weekend visitation rights and summer visits.

Trae said that his gaining primary custody may have “triggered something” in Cuevas, potentially leading to her decision to disappear with Truth.
