A tragic event unfolded on Saturday night when a vehicle crashed into a child’s birthday celebration in Maryland, resulting in one woman’s death and injuries to several others.
The accident occurred in Bladensburg, located in Prince George’s County, just about six miles away from Washington, D.C., as reported by FOX 5 DC.
Authorities shared that guests were gathered under a tent in a yard when a driver suddenly drove into the crowd around 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Officials have classified the incident as a fatal hit-and-run. On Sunday, they reported that the driver, a 66-year-old man, surrendered to the police.

One woman lost her life, and multiple individuals sustained injuries after the vehicle barreled into the weekend festivities in Maryland.
Authorities identified the deceased victim as Ashley Hernandez Gutierrez, a 31-year-old resident of Washington, D.C.
In total, 13 other people were injured, including eight minors and five adults.
“Six of the juvenile victims have been treated and released and one has been admitted and is in stable condition,” Bladensburg Police Department said in a statement.
