A tragic accident unfolded late Thursday night on Jacksonville’s Westside, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred when the rider collided with a median and a tree.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Robert Hungerford provided details of the crash, noting that the motorcyclist, a man in his late 40s, was traveling eastward on Crystal Springs Road. Around 11:37 p.m., he veered to the left, hitting the center median curb before striking a tree.
The impact of the collision was severe enough to eject the rider from his motorcycle, as reported by Sgt. Hungerford. Following the accident, the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department quickly arrived at the scene.
Despite their prompt response, the man was pronounced dead upon their arrival, marking a somber end to the night’s events. The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers motorcyclists face on the road.
Members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department then responded to the scene, Hungerford said, and pronounced the man dead.
This crash marks the 28th traffic fatality in Duval County in 2026, and the 7th involving a motorcycle.
