A cyclist lost his life in a collision with a vehicle late Saturday night while attempting to cross the Arlington Expressway, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.

In Jacksonville, Florida, a tragic incident occurred when a local cyclist was fatally struck on the Arlington Expressway late Saturday night, confirmed by authorities.

According to official reports, the 59-year-old cyclist was positioned on the left shoulder of the expressway near the intersection with Martin Luther King Parkway, just before the stroke of midnight. Concurrently, a white 2016 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling westward in the left lane of the expressway.

The Florida Highway Patrol indicates that the cyclist attempted to cross the expressway without yielding to the oncoming vehicle, resulting in the fatal collision. Unfortunately, he was declared deceased at the scene.

The 37-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, along with an adult passenger, remained at the site of the accident. Both individuals are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation, as detailed in the crash report.
