Tragic Discovery: Three Women Found Dead in Utah, Suspect Apprehended

WAYNE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4)—Authorities have apprehended a suspect following the discovery of three deceased women in Wayne County.

As detailed by the Department of Public Safety (DPS), investigators pursued the suspect, who was traveling in one of the victims’ vehicles, from southern Utah, through northern Arizona, and into Colorado. The suspect was eventually captured without any resistance after a brief search.

The DPS has confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to public safety. A press conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. ET, and ABC4.com will provide live coverage of the event.

The State Bureau of Investigation and Crime Lab reported receiving an emergency call on Wednesday afternoon about two deceased women found on a hiking trail.

Subsequently, a third victim was discovered dead at a residence in Wayne County. Authorities are investigating all three deaths as homicides.

According to the State Bureau of Investigation and Crime Lab, On Wednesday afternoon, dispatch received a call regarding two deceased females located on a hiking trail.

Later in the investigation, a third victim was located deceased at a home in Wayne County. The deaths are being investigated as homicides.

One victim was in her 80s, one was in her 60s, and one was in her 30s. The names of the victims have not been released at this time.

What happened?

This news comes after a social media post from Wayne County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) on Wednesday evening where they asked all residents take extra precautions, keep lights on, keep doors locked, remain home or with others.

At around the same time, Sevier County Sheriff’s Office also posted to social media, saying that they are looking for information into a white Subaru outback that is suspected to have been involved in a suspicious death out of Wayne County.

Additionally, Wayne County School District has also cancelled school Thursday and Friday “due to unfolding events in the county out of an abundance of caution for student and public safety.”

They added that there will be counselors available to support students when school is back in session.
