A tragic incident unfolded in Clay County, Florida, where a Navy sailor was arrested following a fatal shooting. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest of Taylor Lomax, who is stationed at NAS Jax, in connection with the deaths of two women.

Authorities responded to a report of gunfire on Wednesday night at a residence on Hanging Moss Drive in the Oakleaf Plantation area. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the lifeless bodies of two young women, identified as 20-year-old Jordyn Forrestier and 21-year-old Noely Makenda, in the front yard. Both victims had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

The chilling scene was further evidenced by bullet holes visible in the front door of the home, as observed by a First Coast News crew. The sheriff’s office swiftly detained 22-year-old Lomax following the grim discovery.

This tragic event has shocked the local community, with many seeking answers as the investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding the shootings. Lomax now faces serious charges as authorities work to piece together the events that led to this devastating loss of life.

A First Coast News crew that went to the scene spotted at least two bullet holes in the home’s front door.

CCSO said Lomax and the two victims all served in the U.S. Navy and lived together in the home. Naval Air Station Jacksonville confirmed that Petty Officer 3rd Class Taylor Lomax was assigned to the Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron in Jacksonville, and that the Navy is cooperating with investigators. NAS Jacksonville confirmed that the two victims were also assigned to Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadrons.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the Sailors’ families, friends, and shipmates during this difficult time,” a spokesperson for NAS Jax told First Coast News.

According to CCSO, the incident happened after Lomax’s wife came to the home to visit him and began arguing with the roommates. The fight escalated, becoming physical in the front yard. CCSO said that during the fight, Lomax grabbed his handgun and shot approximately 30 times, killing both women.

His wife made the call to 911, and Lomax was taken into custody at the scene. His wife was released after being interviewed.

As of Friday, Lomax is being held in the Clay County Jail on two counts of second-degree murder. He has not been given a bond and will make his first court appearance on Jan. 20 at 9 a.m.
