A tragic incident unfolded in Jacksonville on Saturday when an elderly man lost his life following a hit-and-run accident. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) reported that the man was discovered on Vernon Road, having been struck by a Dodge vehicle whose driver fled the scene.
The authorities received the call shortly before 6 p.m. and rushed to the location, where they found the injured man. Despite being quickly transported to a nearby hospital, the injuries proved fatal, and he later passed away.
The driver involved in the accident did not stop to provide assistance, call for emergency services, or notify law enforcement, prompting an urgent appeal from the JSO. They are seeking public assistance to track down the vehicle and the driver responsible for this tragic event.
Officials are urging anyone with information about the crash, the Dodge vehicle, or the identity of the driver to reach out to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
