A young Spider-Man enthusiast with a heart full of love and innocence, five-year-old Jagger Wing, tragically passed away while enjoying a sleepover at a friend’s house. This sudden and heartbreaking incident unfolded on May 30 in Newburgh, Indiana, leaving his family and community in deep sorrow.
The Wing family shared their grief through an obituary, revealing that Jagger was found unresponsive at the home of a family friend’s parents. Despite efforts to save him, he sadly passed away in the hospital shortly thereafter.
The cause of Jagger’s untimely death remains a mystery, as doctors continue to investigate the circumstances. His mother, Alex, 29, mentioned that their family has a history of heart conditions, which might provide some clues, although definitive answers are still sought.
Reflecting on her son’s last day, Alex recounted how Jagger, who had taken up wrestling since he was four, spent his final hours playing energetically with his friend. “He had played hard outside,” she shared with WCTV, underscoring the normalcy and joy that marked his last moments.
“He had played hard outside,” she told WCTV.
“He was with his friends. He was staying the night at a friend’s house when it happened. My best friend of 17 years and I can’t imagine that feeling and situation. I hate that I wasn’t there.”
Wing, described by family friends as “a beautiful, energetic, loving, caring, and pure soul,” had a passion for Spider-Man and was due to start kindergarten in August.
“He just learned how to ride a bike. He loved to be active. He loved to question everything we were doing,” Alex said.
His dad Damon, 31, revealed his son wanted to replicate the wrestling moves he had seen on TV.
“He wanted to wrestle,” he said.
“There was no sitting on your butt. He wanted to try for a double leg. He watched every UFC fight with me.
“He just loved the game.”
Despite his love for sports, the energetic five-year-old, who had an older and younger sister, also had a caring side, his family revealed.
“He was definitely a protector of his sisters,” Alex said.
Wing’s siblings have since been tested for any underlying heart issues – but results have come back normal.
A fundraiser, which has raised more than $20,000, has been created to support funeral expenses.
