A tragic incident occurred Tuesday when an American Forces Network staff member perished following a vehicular accident near a military site in California, having sustained a gunshot wound.
The employee, who remains unidentified, was en route to work at the March Air Reserve Base, situated about 60 miles east of Los Angeles, around 8 a.m. when the incident unfolded, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. NBC LA reported that both individuals involved in the collision were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

“Subsequent investigation revealed the victim had sustained injuries indicative of a gunshot,” confirmed the sheriff’s department. “The Moreno Valley Investigation Bureau is spearheading the ongoing inquiry. As of now, further information remains unavailable.”
Deputies were initially dispatched to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, the news outlet reported. California Highway Patrol officers told deputies that both drivers were hospitalized in critical condition. Details about what led to the shooting were not disclosed.
