Tragic Incident Under Investigation at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base

DAYTON, Ohio – A somber air hangs over Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as officials have released a statement regarding the ongoing investigation into a tragic incident involving a double murder-suicide among three base employees.

The base confirmed that both the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI) are diligently working to uncover the details surrounding the deaths. The tragic events unfolded between the night of Friday, October 24, and the morning of Saturday, October 25.

The shocking incident has left communities grappling for answers, as they come to terms with the gravity of what has occurred.

“We are profoundly saddened by this devastating event, and our hearts go out to the families and loved ones who are enduring such a painful loss,” expressed Lt. Gen Linda Hurry, Deputy Commander of Air Force Materiel Command. “We are steadfast in our commitment to thoroughly investigate this tragedy and to ensure that the families and coworkers of the victims receive the necessary support during this challenging time.”

However, it did confirm the following personnel as the three dead:

1st Lt. Jaime Gustitus, 25, who worked in the 711th Human Performance Wing, part of the Air Force Research Laboratory.
Mrs. Jaymee Prichard, 33, who worked within the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.
Mr. Jacob Prichard, 34, who was also a part of the Air Force Research Laboratory.

“The Air Force and local authorities are providing counseling services and support to all individuals impacted by the tragedy,” wrote officials. “The families and friends of the victims will be offered resources through the Air Force’s Casualty Assistance Office, the Air Force Employee Assistance Program, and the Chaplain’s Office to help them navigate this difficult time.”
