A woman in her 50s was found with stab wounds outside a home Saturday afternoon, according to JSO.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Northside community is on edge after a woman was stabbed to death on Peach Drive.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says just after 3 p.m. on Saturday, officers were called to the neighborhood in Jacksonville’s Southside, where they found a woman in her 50s suffering from stab wounds outside a home. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Milton Brooks, who has lived in the neighborhood for more than 30 years, says the crime is unsettling.
“My main concern is just that they catch the people that done this, that’s the main concern,” said Brooks.
He told First Coast News he was shocked to learn what happened just blocks from his home.
“I thought it was a shooting at first, but then I heard that it was a stabbing,” said Brooks.
Neighbors say sections of the street were blocked off for hours Saturday as investigators combed the area — something they say is unusual for this quiet part of town.
“It’s been peaceful for a long time, it’s just disheartening when you hear something like this,” said Brooks.
According to JSO, four people have been detained for questioning, but no arrests have been made.
Brooks tells First Coast News his heart is with the victim’s family.
“I’m so sorry that this happened to them and I pray to God for the whole family that they get this guy and our guys and put them in jail where they belong,” said Brooks.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to come forward and asked to call 904-630-0500, email JSOCRIMETIPS@Jaxsheriff.org or contact Crimestoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
