WHITESTOWN, Ind. (WXIN) – A tragic case of mistaken identity led to the death of a woman in an Indiana neighborhood, as reported by Whitestown police.
According to the Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched early Wednesday morning to respond to a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a woman deceased on the porch of a residence. Investigations revealed that a shot had been fired from inside the home, with a bullet hole visible in the front door.
Initially, authorities were informed that the situation involved a home invasion. However, after a thorough investigation, the WMPD released a statement clarifying that the evidence did not substantiate the claim of a break-in. It was determined that the woman was part of a cleaning crew and had mistakenly arrived at the wrong address.
