In a tragic incident on Thursday, a small plane crashed into an Ohio residence, leading to the death of two individuals on board and igniting a significant fire. The accident occurred around 3:45 p.m. local time in a suburban area approximately 15 minutes south of Akron’s downtown. Witnesses reported seeing dense, black smoke billowing from the site, as confirmed by the City of Akron Fire Department to Fox News Digital.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) identified the aircraft as a Piper PA-28. Sadly, both occupants of the plane were discovered deceased within the wreckage. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries among the residents on the ground.
Emergency responders swiftly evacuated the home impacted by the crash, as well as a nearby residence, to ensure the safety of those in the vicinity. Firefighters and other emergency personnel continue to manage the scene, working diligently to secure the area and investigate the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event.
Fire officials evacuated the affected home and a nearby home, reporting no injuries on the ground.

American Winds College of Aeronautics, a local flight school, confirmed all of its airplanes are safe in their hangars and accounted for.

“American Winds is deeply saddened to hear of a plane crash which has just occurred near the Akron Fulton Airport this afternoon,” the school wrote in a Facebook post. “We pray for the pilot, anyone on board and their families.”
The NTSB and Topgolf Akron, which is located across the street from the crash site, did not immediately respond to additional inquiries from Fox News Digital.
