Tragic Patricide: Man Apprehended for Father’s Murder in Eastside Neighborhood

In a tragic incident on the Eastside of Jacksonville, a man has been charged with fatally shooting his father, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The swift arrest took place shortly after the shooting, which occurred on Friday, March 20.

Authorities responded to the scene at a residence located in the 1200 block of Grant Street around 4:50 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered 50-year-old Michael Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he unfortunately did not survive his injuries.

The investigation led officers to identify the victim’s son, 26-year-old David Johnson, as the suspect. Witnesses at the scene provided crucial information that aided the police in making the arrest. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has underscored the efficiency of their response in apprehending the alleged perpetrator.

Upon arrival, officers reportedly found the victim, who has been identified as 50-year-old Michael Johnson, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

The sheriff’s office states that after interviewing witnesses at the home, they identified Michaels son, 26-year-old David Johnson, as the gunman.

David was arrested shortly after midnight on Saturday and taken to the Duval County Jail.
