Road rage shooting leaves man dead in Jacksonville's Sandalwood area, JSO says

In a tragic turn of events on Wednesday night, a road rage incident in Jacksonville’s Sandalwood area culminated in a fatal shooting, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO). The incident unfolded just before 9 p.m., prompting an emergency call to the authorities regarding a shooting on the 1700 block of St. Johns Bluff Road South.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a man lying on the road, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite the swift response from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a subsequent development, Sergeant Josh Catir of the JSO informed that the individual responsible for the shooting turned himself in following the incident. The circumstances surrounding the altercation remain under investigation as the community grapples with the shocking incident.

When officers arrived to the scene, JSO said a man was found lying in the road with at least one gunshot wound.

Members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department then responded to the scene and pronounced the man dead, JSO said.

According to JSO Sgt. Josh Catir, the shooter turned himself in.
