In a tragic incident on Sunday afternoon, a well-known doctor and his wife were shot and killed outside their residence in California, with authorities suggesting it was a “targeted” attack, as reported by various sources.
Dr. Eric Cordes and his wife, Vicki, were discovered with gunshot wounds in the driveway of their Simi Valley home. They were transported to the hospital, where they were later declared deceased, according to police reports cited by ABC 7.
Adventist Health Simi Valley released a statement mourning the loss, describing Dr. Cordes as a “highly respected, board-certified radiologist” who had dedicated nearly three decades to serving the community with both compassion and excellence.
“Our thoughts and sympathies go out to his family, friends, and all who had the honor of working with him as we come to terms with this unexpected tragedy,” the statement added.
The Cordes’ residence is located at the terminus of a neatly maintained cul-de-sac in the upscale area of Simi Valley.
Authorities don’t believe the shooting was a random attack. No arrests have been made.
“We do believe the victims were targeted,” said Simi Valley Det. Rick Morton, per ABC 7.
The shooter got into a car and fled the scene, the outlet said.
