A family has come forward to name the young woman tragically shot to death on Saturday inside a Boston dwelling belonging to Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s husband, Rep. Ayanna Pressley being the representative from Massachusetts.
Although official identification from authorities is pending, relatives revealed through a GoFundMe campaign that the victim is Yoseliani Marte, an 18-year-old woman, as confirmed by her mother.
In her heartfelt description within the fundraiser, Marte’s mother shared that her daughter’s death was a tragic consequence of domestic violence.
Boston police officers arrived at the home located in the Mattapan area shortly after 1:52 p.m. Saturday. Upon arrival, they discovered the young woman suffering from a single gunshot wound, according to police documents reviewed by News Media.

According to public records, the home is owned by Conan Harris, who has been married to Pressley since 2014.
Pressley and Harris do not live at the two-family residence, which has been reported as a rental property, according to the Boston Herald.

The home is currently listed for sale for $1.15 million.
A spokesperson for Pressley’s office told Boston 25 News that neither the congresswoman nor her family were involved in the incident and that Pressley extends her deepest condolences to the family and loved ones impacted by the tragedy.

A neighbor said the usually calm neighborhood was shaken by the large police response Saturday.
“We got home and there were police coming down the street, they blocked off with crime tape over there and neighbors gathered around,” a neighbor said, according to Boston 25 News.
“I mean it’s sad, it’s really sad because you know this neighborhood is a wonderful place to be.”

Family and friends reportedly held a vigil for the victim Sunday night.
The manner of death remains under investigation, Boston police said.
