A man is currently recovering after a disturbing incident in Jacksonville’s Woodland Acres neighborhood, where he was discovered with a gunshot wound to the face. This unsettling event unfolded on Thursday evening, as confirmed by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).

Authorities reported that officers responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 7:20 p.m., heading to the 8200 block of Kona Avenue. Upon arrival, they encountered the injured man standing outside a building within the apartment complex.

In a puzzling twist, the victim provided inconsistent accounts regarding the location of the shooting, according to JSO. He initially informed detectives that an unidentified individual shot him in the parking lot of the complex. However, a thorough search by investigators failed to reveal any evidence of a shooting scene in that area.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate this perplexing case, as they work to uncover the truth behind the conflicting information provided by the victim. Meanwhile, the man’s recovery is being monitored closely as the community seeks answers to this troubling incident.

“The victim told detectives he was shot in the parking lot of the complex, by an unknown person,” JSO told First Coast News. “Detectives canvassed the area, but were unable to locate a scene in the parking lot of the complex.”

JSO said there is currently no description of the shooter.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
