In the midst of Knicks fans celebrating their team’s historic NBA Finals victory, a teenager became a victim of gun violence in Times Square, according to police reports.
The 17-year-old sustained a gunshot wound to his left foot around 2 a.m. at the intersection of 42nd Street and Broadway. This incident coincided with unruly fans vandalizing and setting fire to school buses in the bustling tourist area.
The injured teenager was transported to Bellevue Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
The New York Police Department has detained three individuals of interest and recovered a firearm connected to the incident.
While specific arrest numbers remain undisclosed, authorities confirmed that numerous arrests were made as a result of the disturbances following the Knicks’ first NBA championship win in 50 years.
At least one of those arrested was an individual who punched an officer, sources told The Post.
A livestreamer was also cuffed for climbing on top of an Amazon car.
